About us

David Mbué, proprietor of Mbué Arts is college trained in fine and graphic arts. For those who may ask, let's locate the place of art in everyday experiences.

Art is an interesting subject. From ancient paintings to sculptures in world galleries, art has commonly been thought to serve only decorative or historic purposes. Some folks view art as the opposite of science.

We more readily associate Arts with names like Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci, rather than Thomas Edison or Steve Jobs. But Art is an integral part of science and industry. Since the dawn of civilization, Art has always been the backbone of invention. Science and Art are two inseparable parts of a whole–like hardware and software of electronic gadgets, or electricity and its facilitating infrastructure. The industrial revolution was a culmination of designers, artists and engineers working together to improve and modernize production. Art still plays a very central role in the ever-evolving dynamics of our earthly experience.

There are diverse forms and applications of art. At Mbué Arts, functionality is our modus operandi. We seek to enhance ease of use of everyday things. Much testing and calculating is involved. We like to ensure that any utility gadget not only looks right, feels right and functions right, but is as user friendly as can be.

Did you ever stop to wonder how to turn a door handle, operate a coffee maker, activate a button on a gadget, etc.? You are not alone; that happens quite often as people attempt to use everyday appliances. Whenever help is needed with a mundane utility appliance, design of the appliance is not effective. Good design offers user-friendly experience. As functionalist artists, whether creating illustrations for children’s textbooks, page layouts or building websites, we pay special attention to ease of use. “Easy” is our definition of successful design.

We are huge on aesthetics. Beauty is a function of design. By how much a design affects the senses, by the same it affects user interactivity. Appeal is a forerunner of desire. The essence of functionalist art is to bridge likability and usability. That’s what Mbué Arts is about.

We are talented, exploratory, and passionate. Deriving contentment from solving design problems, we also enlighten our clients and establish long lasting business relationships. Thank you for choosing our services.
