As David’s career advisor, I have witnessed his deep commitment to his professional development as a designer. He is hungry to learn and holds himself to a high standard, always stretching himself to greater levels of expertise. David is meticulous and thoughtful, and he’s the kind of person who perseveres to overcome any obstacles.

Rarely do you come across people of such strong convictions and disposition, for whom there is no equal to integrity or truth – David is one such character. He has and continues to be a great teacher, role model and compass for the team that he developed and mentored back in Kenya many many years ago. David worked on a range of design projects while at Sparksoft. Projects included page layouts and templates for business documents, technical diagrams and graphics, building a reference library of proposal graphics, curating imagery for web media, and a research project assessing websites for usability. David is very good at research and analysis of design and usability. In building technical proficiency, he doesn’t hesitate to ask a lot of questions, which is great. He also has a very professional, confident attitude and demeanor, and our office enjoyed having him.

From the day I met David Mbue, I was impressed with his determination. He arrived with a goal to complete his studies within a short time-frame, while also maintaining a full-time job. I advised him that he might need to slow down, but he knew himself and knew that he could meet his goals. David did, in fact meet his goals and by that time, no one who knew him was surprised. He proved to be one of the hardest-working students I have ever met and I have no doubt that his success here at UMBC will translate into future success in his chosen field of work. David is not only driven to do his best, he is also talented, responsible, resourceful – and kind. He will be a valuable asset to any company lucky enough to hire him.
